Steeltown by Big Country tells about working in factories in the UK. How hard the labor was, and how little people working there made. Not only did they make near nothing, but they had horrible health issues that were not covered by the companies. Now even though you think we have moved on, this still happens in America and The UK. But it mostly occurs in third world countries where it is easier for the businesses to function.
Steeltown lyrics:
Here I stand with my own kinAt the end of everythingFinaly the dream has goneI've nothing left to hang uponI came here with all my friendsLeaving behind the wait of yearsLeaving alone in a flood of tearsOut on a prospect that never endsAll the landscape was the millGrim as the reaper with a heart like hellWith a river of boddiesFlowing with the bellWe built it all with our own handsBut who could know we built on sandBut now it's barren all to soonThere's no miracle in ruinWe set the flame and it burned so blueWith open eyes I watched it growA sea of palms in an ocean of snowHands with the corage to start anewHere was a home for the lost and scaredOut of the yards and dry docksThe call of the steel that would never stopThere was a refuge for those who daredIn a steeltownWhen the heat's onI went downAnd the heat turned on meHere I stand with my own kinAt the end of everythingFinaly the dream has goneI've nothing left to hang uponIn a steeltownWhen the heat's onI went downAnd the heat turned on me
